Members present included, Bill Kerr, Jim Hight, Sherry Strong, Ken Hammock, Jessee Millan, Steve York, David Lane, Doug Padgett, Brennan Carr, Vic Meyer, Janice Lyons and our speaker, Tony Roda.

Guests present included Greg Douglass, Alisha Douglass and Mike Shoemaker.

The meeting was held at the Tulsa Petroleum Club in Tulsa and Chairperson Bill Kerr called the meeting to order at 11:35 am and led the Pledge of Allegiance. Guests were introduced. Bill presented the chapter’s I. B. Hale award entry. He expressed appreciation to Ken Hammock for his work on this project. While a fine entry, it did not win the award as ASIS International would like to see more members attending montly meetings and for the chapter to distribute a newsletter in addition to the monthly minutes. Bill made an announcement that Vic Meyer has successfully completed his CPP test.

The January meeting minutes were attached to the February 4th e-mail announcing the meeting details. Motions were made and seconded to approve the January meeting minutes.

Vic Meyer gave the Treasurer’s report for January. The ending checking account balance was $8,425.97. Motions were made and seconded to approve the January report.

Tony Roda, Special Agent with the FBI was the speaker. Tony has 14 years military experience and 10 years with the FBI with the last six months being assigned to the Tulsa Resident Agency. Tony shared with the group the FBI’s desire to be an outreach resource for their partners. He expressed how important it is to have the partners in the community report suspicious issues to them. He explained that the Joint Terrorism Task Force (JTTF) is made up of members of local, county, state and federal law enforcement. They just recently added a representative from the Department of Agriculture to the JTTF. He discussed how they can do threat assessments when a business, municipality or government office has received an actual threat. He and Jim Hight (retired FBI Tulsa Supervisory Agent) explained they do not do threat assessments on a routine basis-only when a real threat has been expressed. Oklahoma has one field office located in Oklahoma City. From that field office, there are 14 resident agencies, one of which would be located in Tulsa.

Bill expressed that while several committee chairpersons were not in attendance, we would be hearing from them in the future. He encouraged everyone to participate if asked to serve on a committee. Bill recently attended an ASIS Regional Officer Training Workshop in Conway, AR. At that meeting, Ralph Sims, Region 7A Vice President (Region 7A includes Tulsa), expressed that Tulsa needs to increase membership in ’08 since we lost about 7% membership in ’07. Sherry Strong has agreed to be the Membership Committee Chairperson. Bill encouraged each person present to work on membership for the coming year.

Under old business, Janice Lyons was officially sworn in as Secretary. Due to medical leave, Janice was unavailable to be sworn in at the December or January meetings. Sherry announced the chapter majority vote was to make the Tulsa Petroleum Club (TPC) the meeting location for the chapter. Until further notice, the TPC will be the site for all monthly chapter meetings.

There was no new business.

Ken Hammock won the $25.00 gift card.

The next meeting date will be March 4th. The speaker will be Jack Myers, Chief of the Jenks Public School Police. As a reminder, you are encouraged to bring guests to the monthly meetings. Either you or your guests would have to pay the luncheon/meeting fee of $16.00 per person.

A motion was made and seconded for the meeting to adjourn at approximately 12:40 p.m. Minutes recorded by Secretary Janice Lyons.
